Lecturer Tadas Vaidelys had been to SouthernIllinois University in USA for teaching visit byErasmus+

Main aim of the visit was to provide a course of lectures on fire management in forest for bachelor students of fire management class in SIU. Main subject field contented in five lectures: Fire in the forest. The positive side; Fire in the forest. The negative side; Fire management in Lithuanian forests; Fire management in forests as a global phenomenon; The future of fire management in forests.

There was an opportunity to participate in student practical training. Many fire sites were

visited in different forest types. It was possible to estimate the condition of plants growing

in fire sites. Participated in excursions on natural and cultural objects.

In the last day was meeting with Executive Director of International Affairs Ph.D. Andrew D. Carver. Were discussed about cooperation possibilities in the future between ASU and SIU.

All visit time was hosted by professor Charles Ruffner. Professor teaches these subjects in Southern Illinois University: fire in wildland management, dendrochronology historical ecology classes, forest measurements, disturbance ecology.

Experience and new knowledge about fire management gained during the mobility period will be used for teaching students of Aleksandras Stulginskis University.

Mobility period was from 11/03/2018 till 17/03/2018.
